oc california III: the cycle lodge

There's still some cool unreleased stuff from our So-Cal trip lying around on my harddrive... like those pics from our visit at the Cycle Lodge in Orange. The shop is run by Mike Davis (Born Loser) and Grant Peterson (Freedom Machinery), the guys who put up the annual Born Free Show. Too bad we missed it as we had to head back to Europe two weeks before. But if you ever happen to be in the town of Orange, do it like we did and check out their shop.

custom parts & wear 10th anniversary

What a great party. We had a killer time this weekend at the 10th anniversary of Custom Parts & Wear, the shop run by Manu and Chris. As mentioned a couple of times before, they know how to throw a party. They had bands playing, pinstripers striping, cars showing up, great food and drinks and most importantly: great people. So we met a lot of old friends and made new ones while slowly getting sunburned. A big thank you to Manu and Chris as well as to their helpers and everyone who made this possible. Good luck for the next 10 years! Want some pics? Click here.

oc california II: circle city hot rods

While still in Orange County, Dana of the ACES invited us to visit Circle City Hot Rods. It's an impressive shop and it was great to meet Jimmy White and his crew. They had just finished this Chevy two door sedan with a killer paintjob by Harpoon. The overall quality of the car was mindblowing. Find out more about them on Circlecityhotrods.com.

oc california I: bob hill

Orange County was one of the latest stages of our So-Cal journey. In San Clemente we met with Bob Hill of the ACES CC who just happened to be selling his 1932 three window coupe. But he won't be without a hot rod for long as he's already working on a model a roadster. Here are a couple of shots before the coupe's gonna leave for its new owner.

the magic of el mirage

On the last day of our trip through So-Cal, finally a dream of mine came true: going to El Mirage. We got there saturday night and slept in the rental as I wanted to take some shots before sunrise. It was well worth it. The setting at El Mirage, especially in the morning hours when everything is quiet, is nothing short of magic. But the sun rises quickly and there ain't much time before people get up and the first engine is revving up. Here are just a couple of my favorite pics... Click here to check out more.
